Tokyo Marui Airsoft Guns – Leading Edge Airsoft Gun Innovation & Manufacture Since 1992

Tokyo MaruiTokyo Marui is a Japanese manufacturer of high quality airsoft guns who is renowned for innovative airsoft gun systems and extremely consistent quality of manufacture that customers worldwide have come to appreciate among many low-quality budget copies. Tokyo Marui innovated in 1992 the groundbreaking "gearbox" miniaturized full automatic air-compression system that was used to create Tokyo Marui's 6mm BB firing Automatic Electric Gun series that have since evolved into realistic Shoot & Recoil automatic electric guns (patent registered). Further evolution of this system has been seen in miniaturized Automatic Electric Pistol (AEP) series that use extremely small gearboxes for small-frame gun models that would had been otherwise impossible to manufacture as an airsoft guns. Tokyo Marui was also the first to introduce the so-called "Hop Up" mechanism that creates up-lifting spin to BBs that allow greater range and better accuracy through stabilized flight pattern of the BB. As veteran airsoft gun users know, Tokyo Marui's development has always stressed high accuracy and this has been achieved through Tokyo Marui's patented Hop Up mechanism and delicate adjustment of air pressure, cylinder and inner barrel length in each airsoft gun model.

Tokyo Marui's background in plastic models is clearly seen in their airsoft guns as their high quality plastic molding work allows incredibly well-detailed airsoft gun models with extremely smooth material surfaces. The quality of Tokyo Marui's plastic work has been described as "miraculous", evidence being seen in some extremely well-detailed model series such as AK47/74/102, G17/G18, G36C/K, M4, MP5, PSG-1 and P90 among many others.

Tokyo Marui Airsoft Pistols

Tokyo Marui High Grade, High Grade Hop Up and Electric Blowback Model Categories

Tokyo Marui produces airsoft pistols in many different airsoft gun categories and it was airsoft pistols from which Tokyo Marui started their airsoft gun manufacture in 1980s. Today, some of the Tokyo Marui's lowest priced models are the spring cocking single-shot pistols (you have to reload the pistol after each shot by cocking the slide) that come in High Grade (HG) and High Grade Hop Up (HGHU) categories. The HGHU models come with fixed Hop Up units, which are optimized for 0.25g BBs and allow range up to 50 meters. HG models are optimized for 0.20g BBs and have range of about 25 meters. Tokyo Marui's Electric Blowback (EBB) models are in about same price range as the HGHU models and are considered very affordable for the quality they represent in terms of surface finish and features. These AA-battery operated airsoft pistol models do not require manual cocking and are capable of semi-automatic, and in some cases full-automatic, firing. They come with fixed Hop Up units, which are optimized for 0.12g BBs and  allow range up to 25 meters. All three category models feature some of the best plastic molding in the industry and are known to be extremely well-detailed in terms of surface finish. In gaming terms, they are preferred for their extremely long shooting range, accuracy and product durability.

Tokyo Marui Gas Blowback Pistol Series

Tokyo Marui developed their own gas blowback pistol series in mid-1990s due to growing market demand and to counter their competitors gas blowback pistol series. For this purpose they recruited the famous model gun and airsoft gun designer Tanio Kobayashi, who developed Tokyo Marui a powerful gas blowback mechanism that was seen in models like the "Desert Eagle .50AE". The development process was "a very difficult one", according to Tanio Kobayashi, owning to Tokyo Marui's strict requirements. It was worth it because this powerful gas blowback mechanism adapted to Tokyo Marui's excellent hop up and stabilized gas system gave birth to one of the most successful gas blowback airsoft pistol series in the world.

Today, thanks to this strong foundation Tokyo Marui's gas blowback pistol models have further evolved and now offer one of the strongest and crispiest blowback recoil actions in the market, along with reliable firing action without gas leaks and extremely good accuracy and range.

Tokyo Marui Fixed Slide Gas Pistols

In the 1980's and before the gas blowback pistol era, Tokyo Marui used to manufacture fixed slide gas pistols that have been since gradually phased out of selection. The SOCOM Mk23 fixed slide gas pistol was developed much later in early 2000's as the "Special Forces Operator" weapon-of-choice. It comes with mock LAM-unit and SOCOM-issued silencer, thus giving the user ready-straight-out-of-the-box Special Forces pistol set.

Tokyo Marui Automatic Electric Pistols (AEP)

Thanks to the successful miniaturization of Tokyo Marui's Automatic Electric Gun gearbox in 2004, Tokyo Marui was able to introduce electric powered full-automatic airsoft pistols with unchanged cosmetic appearance and high-performance firing action. The new "micro gearbox" technology allowed Tokyo Marui to develop not only pistols, but AEG models that would had been otherwise impossible to manufacture with the standard gearbox technology. Unlike the full-scale Tokyo Marui AEG models, the AEPs use small 7.2v 500mAh batteries and thus have slightly slower rate of fire.
